Thursday 17th July

 Hermione and Lily:

After having breakfast at eight, we travelled over to St Patrick's community school, where we had to walk through a village to get to the playing grounds. The grounds were extremely dusty and we kept getting dust in our eyes. We enjoyed playing games such as bull dog and games of tag rugby. Some of the kids were very enthusiastic and after our last game of tag rugby we packed up and walked back through the village, said our goodbyes and off we went back to the campsite for relaxing and lunch. At lunch we had cheese rolls as usual but something exciting happened...

At 11:45, me (Hermione), Mr Horrod and young leader James, all set off to the ZNBC studio, the Zambian recording studio. When we first arrived, we had to wait for about 20 minutes for the programme to get started. After that we were invited on set to be interviewed on live TV. They asked a number of questions to me and Mr Horrod - some were hard and some were easy. It was very exciting because it was live and I could see my face on screen. Then we waited for James for half an hour to finish his interview. After my interview lots of Zambian producers came into the room and requested to take photos of me. From there we went to have lunch, which was delicious and then to the supermarket to get breakfast for the following day. 

Whilst that was all happening, the rest of the group went to some more schools. On the way there the bus was very cramped as the whole group except Hermione were on one bus. We visited 2 schools to coach. They were of different abilities and levels so we had to work hard to get them to understand what was right and wrong. In the last game, some of the children had to catch their bus so some of the other young leaders had to join in which was nice. 

We then made our way to the local government office. We introduced ourselves to a local government official of Chilanga and we told her how grateful we were to be in Zambia working with the young people in the community. After that we headed back to camp and ordered pizzas. Whilst they were cooking we gathered in the bar and played pool and darts until they arrived, at which point everyone screamed with joy. Some of us couldn't eat all our pizzas so Hugo and Finn offered to eat the rest of the slices, ending up with more than a whole mega-sized pizza each. 

Overall it was another great day and we look forward to an early start tomorrow, for the first tournament.
