Sunday 13th July

 Flo's Entry:

We woke up for breakfast at 8.30am and we left at 9am to go to the churches. The first one was not what I was expecting at all; we were greeted by a group of women and small children singing their local call and response songs. This experience made my face hurt because I couldn't stop smiling.

The whole scene was unreal and something I would never be able to experience again.

When we sat in the church, there was a whole range of aged children. They were so adorable and they kept waving back at us. We were invited to join in and dance to their songs. This made me realise how lucky I am to be on this trip as I can imagine that if I didn't come, I would have seriously bad FOMO (fear of missing out).

Then we drove to the next location. The people were so welcoming and the singing was so special as there were multiple choirs who sang beautifully unique songs.

The last church was my favourite. Even before entering the church we were invited in by compassionate people who made us feel very safe and welcomed. We sat down and the service included live music such as a drum kit and African Drums. There was a choir with stunning voices who made the atmosphere so joyful. During the songs we were brought to the centre of the church to join the rest of the community. My arm was grabbed and we were lying on the floor for parts of the song, which was unexpected but eventful. This was so symbolise being humble and worshipping God no matter what situation you are in. During a song, some of the small children came up to us and were dancing with us whilst holding our hands which was extremely cute.

When we were driving home we stopped into a supermarket and got food for lunch, then we unpacked and sorted out all the donations. Then finally we had a delicious BBQ for dinner and a minty biscuity dessert.

Thea's Entry:

Today I woke up at about 8am and had breakfast at 8.30am. We all left at about 9am to go to three churches. It took about 15 mins to get to the first one and when we got there we were greeted by singing and dancing. Everyone there was so nice and seemed so happy. Once we entered the church, we were greeted by more singing and dancing, and we even joined in! Then the pastor read us some bible quotes and said a prayer. After the service was over, everyone gave us handshakes and said goodbye.

We then went to the next church and everyone there said hello to us. Once we entered, there was more singing and dancing and we all clapped along. The pastor then spoke to us and after that we waved at some kids and they all smiled and waved back.

Finally we went to the last church and were greeted by everyone saying hello and smiling. Once we got in, the pastor spoke to us and then some students from their Sunday School did a speech. Next there was lots more singing and dancing. When I sat back down, a child came up to me and we started dancing together.

When the service we all said goodbye and headed back. There were two coaches and my coach went to the shops to buy some lunch. We got rolls and cheese with some fruits and vegetables. After we all ate, we sorted through all the donations and put them back into our bags organised.

Whilst we were doing this, we saw two adult Giraffes and their baby. When we finished, me and some others decided to go in the pool and it was super cold so didn't stay for long!

After showering and relaxing for a bit, we went to get dinner (a BBQ!). We then got dessert and it was really good.
